I experienced many problems acheiving any MOL resolution greater than
800x600 on my G4 today. It turned out that the problem was the ROM image I
was using.

I unfortunately don't remember the source of the most latest ROM image I
found (I believe it was Tome Extracted from the 9.0 install CD). A friend
had an older ROM file that I found before I wiped off the G4. This ROM
fixed all my issues.

Symptoms were: increasing resolution beyond 800x600 would cause MOL to
crash hard - spewing information about loss of network packets followed by
lots of "adb buffer overflow" messages.

I tweaked and tweaked the molrc file until I finally tried my friend's ROM
image which worked.

Incidentally the Problem I posted earlier regarding the 'Unknown SPR
register 944/951' was solved by no longer using the patched (0.9.44MA)
kernel and instead switching to a rebuilt 2.2.15 from the Champion 2.1
distribution kernel-source RPM.
