I've been experiencing the same since 0.9.50; in X mode, the MOL window
appears for a second and then disappears; in fullscreen mode, the console
switches to VT8, but I am left there with a blinking underscore cursor.

This is with Linux 2.4-pre9 and -pre10, rsync'ed from Paul's tree.
