hi,

i'm using MOL-0.9.50 with 2.2.17pre20-ben3 and MacOS 9.04 on my Pismo 400.

i have set up mol with tap0 and IP masquerading according to
the MOL FAQ <http://www.turbolinux.com/~brad/mol/>,
Michael Peters' FAQ <http://216.22.163.20/Linux_Pages/mol.shtml>
and a post by Adrian Taylor
<http://lists.linuxppc.org/listarcs/mol-general/200004/msg00150.html>

nom whenever i start mol, MacOS complains bout a different device using the
same IP, and i cannot connect to the linux side.
i can fix this after restarting my network setup with

# /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart
Shutting down interface eth0 [ OK ]
Shutting down interface tap0 down: error fetching interface information:
Device not found
                                                           [FAILED]
Disabling IPv4 packet forwarding [ OK ]
Enabling IPv4 packet forwarding [ OK ]
Bringing up interface lo [ OK ]
Bringing up interface eth0 [ OK ]
Bringing up interface tap0 [ OK ]

as you can see, tap0 cannot be brought down correctly (same thing happens at
shutdown). i created tap0 with mknod /dev/tap0 c 36 16. according to Adrian
Taylor's post, i added the line ARP="true" to
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-tap0. this file didn't exist before, so
i created it with only this line. should i have used a copy of ifcfg-eth0
and added the line?

any help is greatly appreciated!
and BTW, how do i get rid of that MOL volume on my MacOS desktop?

please cc me when answering, cause i am subscribed to the digest.

TIA,
-otto.
