I just did a rsync of mol ("0.9.58") into a clean directory, and am still
getting the hard lock after the "sound disabled by user" message. The
last two lines from /var/log/messages are:

Apr 13 00:42:44 like kernel: compat_has_mmap_rw_sem = 1
Apr 13 00:42:44 like kernel: MOL module inited

After the lockup, the mouse pointer is frozen and the machine doesn't
respond to pings. I've tried older kernels (2.4.2 etc.) and have noticed
the same lockup. Looks like I'll head back to 0.9.55 or so.
