Thank you for responding. When the nvram.nw file is removed, I see
messages to the effect that it is recreated by mol. In addition, the
following lines:

************ WARNING, phandle == 0 ***********
********* of_quiesce *********

no longer appear after the message "RTAS instantiated...". However, other
than these differences, mol still exhibits the same behavior - blank
screen and no startup.

I looked in the directories you specified and was unable to find any
utilities for copying or creating an nvram file, nor any instructions
about doing so. The Nvram file in /doc/.../Dev referred only to "clearing"
an NVRAM file, and only then in the context of using an "old-world" ROM.

Am I stuck? Is there any way I can begin to debug the problem?
