I guess the problem must just be with woody. I haven't tried sid.

Have you come accross the 2.4.x console/fb interrupt bug? Whenever I've used NFS
on the 2.4 kernel, I get occasional 'NFS server not responding' followed by a
short hang and then 'NFS server ok' - this only happens when i'm using the
console - is fine if I have a remote session into the box.

I think this is because the 2.4 fb code currently disables interrupts while
scrolling and other fb operations - causing lost interrupts (in this case lost
interrupts to the ethernet driver). All 2.4 kernels I've tried (fsmlabs and
ppc.samba.org) have this problem.
