What do all these error messages mean?

Dear John,

Thans for the help! As you have suggested I have tested for the
compiler program gcc. It is installed. Also the binutils I found
installed already.

Not installed were the compat-libs. I tried to find them at YDL and
found somthing with a similar name. I have installed the libs and now I
am finding myself in an interesting loop of:

[root@3-98-237-24-cable stefan]# rpm -q compat*
package compat-libstdc++-2.95-2.1a.ppc.rpm is not installed
package compat-libstdc++-egcs-1.1-2.1a.ppc.rpm is not installed
[root@3-98-237-24-cable stefan]# rpm -ivh compat*.rpm
Preparing...                ###########################################
[100%]
package compat-libstdc++-2.95-2.1a is already installed
package compat-libstdc++-egcs-1.1-2.1a is already installed
[root@3-98-237-24-cable stefan]# rpm -q compat*
package compat-libstdc++-2.95-2.1a.ppc.rpm is not installed
package compat-libstdc++-egcs-1.1-2.1a.ppc.rpm is not installed
[root@3-98-237-24-cable stefan]#

And - just out of curiosity - I tried to ./configure mol again, but
still without success.

Anyhow, at this point, shouldn't I start over with the new version of
mol (...64)?

no matter what version, though, what should I do next? I am very much
at a loss but at the same time I amstill very much hoping that I could
get mol to run. It is so annoying to have to reboot the computer each
time I need to work in Mac OS 9. Mol is the reason why I went with YDL.

Thanks,

Stefan
