This is list is for discussing mac-on-linux, an emulator that allows you
to run MacOS on Linux running on a Macintosh hardware. Also, you should
read the list archives before you first post to a list to check

   1. that the list discusses the topic you want to ask about, and
   2. that the question has not been answered before.

There have been a lot of off-topic "how do I install Linux on Macintosh"
questions to this list lately. I suggest that this might be due to the
link from
http://lists.terrasoftsolutions.com/
which does not explain that this list is not for installing linux!

Is that where you came from?

The above being said, the 7100/66 is a NuBus machine, and YellowDog
Linux can not be installed on it directly. The supported hardware page
at yellowdoglinux.com would have told you this. You need to go to the
linux on nubus homepage:
http://nubus-pmac.sourceforge.net/
There is also a mailing list at
http://lists.linuxppc.org/linuxppc-nubus/index.html
You should read some of the archives of the list before you start. Do a
search for 7100 and see what comes up.

Please be warned that the NuBus port is more difficult to install than
other ports of linux. This would be a bad machine to try to install
Linux on if this is your first time to install it. I would suggest you
find another type of machine that linux installs on easily, for example
a "new world" mac, and come back to the 7100 when you have some
experience with Linux.

If you decide to continue despite the warning, you might want to get a
newer version of YDL before you install. YDL 2.0 is getting a bit old
now. But read the nubus mailing list first to see what versions are
known to work.

Good luck.

Ben.
