Please remind me: is this true for full-screen video only, or does it 
apply to mol-in-a-window also? Is there any simple switch to exclude 
these improvements from the build to compare the difference with the 
speed enhancements and without?

Also, my question about: whether there is now any advantage to an 
actual install, since mol can be run from source (if it could do that 
before, I didn't know it).
