This can happen if the system spends too long in an interrupt.  It
happened to me (not with MOL, with something else I've forgotten),
and BenH explained to me that the power management unit has to be
serviced periodically, else it will shut the machine down.  So you
must have had some kernel code hogging the machine for too long with
interrupts turned off.  If this only happens in MOL I'd be willing
to suggest the problem could lie in its kernel module.
