Networking: ping works for everywhere, browsers don't see the net.

I had the same problem (OS/X can ping, ftp, telnet, but not ssh, http - 
http://lists.maconlinux.org/pipermail/mol-general/2003-June/001718.html); 
my solution was to upgrade the kernel 
(http://lists.maconlinux.org/pipermail/mol-general/2003-June/001727.html).
