Did you happen to open the startup disk control panel in either OS9 or 
OSX?

P.S. you can hold down the option key at the machine bootup to get a 
menu to boot into, choose linux, and then re-run ybin -v from inside 
linux (as root or sudo) and it should restore the menu without having 
to boot from the YDL cd.
