ibook parition table nuked - 10.3 update from within MOL?

I installed the recent Mac OS 10.3 security update from within MOL.
Didn't reboot the box until today, and my partition table seems to be
gone. No yaboot, no nothing. I get an Apple boot screen with the
rotating gear, then the big circle slash. Neither my debian install
disk nor my mac os x install disk detect any partitions.

Is it feasible for the 10.3 update to nuke my partition table from
within MOL? None of the debian packages that might touch the partition
table have updated recently, so I'm not looking that direction just
yet...

Relevant info: MOL CVS from just a couple of weeks ago when the release
candidate announcement was made. Linux 2.4.24-benh, debian unstable.
Running MOL on an OS X partition.

Thanks,
John
