error on ibook g4

Machine: ibook g4
MacOSX: Panther 10.3.2
Kernel: linux 2.6.3

When I try and run startmol -X to run macosx I get an error on VT8 that
shows the macosx "You need to restart your computer' image behind the
error messages: 

panic(cpu 0): Unable to find driver for this platform: "AAPL,MOL".

...[stack trace]

Kernel version:
Darwin Kernel Version 7.2.0: 
panic: we are hanging here

If it would be useful is there any way to get the error messages logged
somwhere accessible?

Also in the log is
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
Could not connect to X server :0
Fullscreen video on VT 8.

running startmol as root and root is able to run other X apps ok.

crossposting to mol-general because I get the same error with an
uptodate mol-rsync
