tuntap and bridging

Hello
Im trying to setup mol so that it is on the same net as my other boxes, gets
its address from dhcp and appletalk works.
the sheep networking does most of it. but for some reason it is impossible to
reach the host that mol is running on. mazbe it is possible to add loopback
support to the sheep driver?
tun doesnt work as i want appletalk.
so tap is what is left. reading through the kernel docs i found out that
ethertap is deprecated and tuntap should be used instead. also it clearly
says in the docs that bridging is supported. sounds like the solution to me.
the only problem is i wasnt able to setup the tap device with tuntap and
couldnt find any docs about it. and using ethertap i wasnt able to exchange a
single packet between the host and mol. even after i stopped trying to setup
a bridging device and instead followed the mol docs i had no luck.
so i basically want to know two things: is it possible to setup bridging with
ethertap, and is tuntap for the tap device supported?
from searching the mailinglist ive seen that supporting tuntap was discussed
several months ago and considered easy. i hope you can give me some help.
thanks
Jonas
