mol on ppc64

I'm trying to build mol on my ppc64 G5 (970FX, altivec PowerMac7,3).  
I know that this is somewhat uncharted territory.  I'm running Gentoo 
(2.6.11-r6), and am trying to work with either the 0.9.70-r1 or 
0.9.71_pre1 (gentoo) source.  0.9.70-r1 tells me "Can't find default 
configuration "config/defconfig-ppc64"!"; 0.9.71_pre1 gets beyond 
that point to "can't find file config/Kconfig-ppc64".  I'm wondering 
if you can point me in the right direction for figuring out how to 
work on this config-related stuff myself to see if I can actually 
compile the source successfully.
