MELLANOX SIGNS TERRA SOFT AS INFINIBAND RESELLER
Loveland, Colorado -- 31 December 2003 -- Terra Soft Solutions, Inc., the
leading developer of integrated PowerPC Linux solutions, is pleased to
announce a formal reseller relationship with Mellanox, leading supplier of
InfiniBand semiconductors.
Terra Soft now provides turn-key HPC clustered solutions that include
InfiniBand switches, host and target channel adapters. Coupled with IBM
970-based Apple G5 and Xserve RAID, Terra Soft also offers pre-configured
data storage solutions.
Mellanox Technologies has delivered more than 100,000 InfiniBand ports over
two generations of 10Gb/sec InfiniBand devices. Current technologies provide
eight times the performance of ethernet and more than three times the
performance of proprietary interconnects. The recent Virginia Tech
installation of 1100 nodes gained world-wide attention for the cost-effective
means of building the third fastest ranked cluster in the world. Through
Terra Soft, the LANL Visualization Research Lab in Los Alamos, New Mexico,
will incorporate Mellanox InfiniBand into an existing Apple G5 cluster.
Mellanox InfiniBand offers:
- Dual 10Gb/s InfiniBand 4X Ports
- IBTA v1.1 Compatible Design
- Support for Millions of Queue Pairs
- Large On-chip InfiniBand Port Buffers
- Low Latency Transport
- Memory Options of 128, 256 or More DDR Memory
- InfiniBand Native Layer 4 Hardware Acceleration
- Support for Eight Data VLs plus the VL15 Management Lane
- Sophisticated Quality of Service (QoS) Features
- Multicast, Atomic and Large Message Support
- Hardware Support for UC, UD, RC and RAW Mechanisms
Terra Soft's COTS Apple G5 compute nodes with Mellanox InfiniBand and Yellow
Dog Linux offer a highly competitive foundation for large scale clusters
while maintaining nearly seamless code migration to and from Red Hat-based
x86 systems, reducing cost of adoption and maintenance. Higher density
form-factors will enable an even stronger price / performance / density /
power-consumption ratio, increasingly important for large-scale HPC
facilities.
Mellanox current product offerings include the MTS9600 96-Port Modular
InfiniBand switch designed to carry clusters from 64 to thousands of nodes
with low latency through a 1.92 terabit switch.
Leaf Board Features:
- 12 external 4X (10Gb/sec) copper ports enable cluster interconnect
- 12-4X internal connections to the Spine
- Non-Blocking CBB or Fat Tree Topology
Spine Board Features:
- 24-4X (10Gb/sec) ports routed to the mid-plane
- Non-blocking CBB or Fat Tree Topology
- LED status indicators for all internal links
Management Board Features:
- Embedded processor with Linux OS accessible via ethernet or serial port
- Chassis management bus to all major components
- Redundancy option with second management board
