TERRA SOFT OFFERS APPLE G5s PREPARED FOR YELLOW DOG LINUX
Loveland, Colorado -- 24 June 2003 -- Terra Soft Solutions, Inc., leading
developer of integrated PowerPC Linux solutions is today accepting pre-orders
for Apple G5 Power Macs --soon to be supported by Yellow Dog Linux.
Yesterday Apple unveiled the extraordinary new G5s. Built upon IBM's 970 CPU,
the G5 is the union of a single-core of the IBM Power4 64-bit processor and
the Motorola and IBM's 32-bit AltiVec unit, offering unsurpassed performance
in a desktop computer. As Yellow Dog Linux was in 2000 enabled for the IBM
Power3 by IBM Lab and Linuxcare, and subsequently for the Power4, the effort
to support the 970-based Apple computers is anticipated to be completed with
relative ease.
As an Apple Authorized Reseller, Terra Soft is now receiving pre-orders for
Apple G5s. When the units are made available, Terra Soft will prepare the
drive with a partition for Yellow Dog Linux and install Mac OS X. With the
G5, Terra Soft's customer will receive the current Yellow Dog Linux CDs,
280-page "Getting Started" book, sticker, and T-shirt. The updated Install
CDs will be shipped at no additional charge when the G5s are supported. In
addition, those who pre-order now will receive free installation support.
