Yellow Dog Linux Enthusiasts,

The June 2004, Issue 122, page 34 of Linux Journal features a three-page 
article "Using yum for RPM Updates", by Mick Bauer.

Originally created by Terra Soft Solutions, yup (Yellow Dog Updater) was 
designed to provide a simpler means of updating Yellow Dog Linux 
installations than working with individual RPMs and their dependencies.

yup was then improved (and is now maintained) by the Linux@Duke team at Duke 
University, becoming "yum" (Yellow Dog Updater, Modified). Far more powerful 
than its yup foundation, yum is the primary update tool for Yellow Dog Linux 
and now ships with Red Hat Linux.
