Terra Soft Associates,
If you are attending Supercomputing '06, we invite you to stop by IBM booth
#1205 to learn about Y-HPC v2.0, a cross architecture cluster construction
suite for Linux with immediate support for all existing Cell products.
This industry first provides for rapid cluster node imaging of both x86 and
ppc nodes, including immediate support for Intel, Opteron, Apple G3/G4/G5,
IBM JS20/21 and p5; IBM QS20, Mercury Cell Blade/1U/CAB, and PLAYSTATION(R)3.
First released at SC2004, Y-HPC provides a means of managing node images,
copies of a complete run-time environment housed on the head node. These
images contain all code required to run the compute node, including boot
protocol, network configuration, instructions for local or diskless, remote
mounted directories, and the applications and libraries to support the
cluster functions.
Using the experience gained from previous versions of Y-HPC and time spent at
the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, v2.0 is a complete re-write which offers
a new "template" driven machine configuration with support for highly
scalable, multi-tier cluster construction.
The demo in the IBM booth showcases Y-HPC v2.0 beta with a YDL v5.0 + Y-Bio
v1.1 node image on 2 IBM QS-20 Cell blades. In the Mercury booth #1135, all
Cell blades are running YDL v5.0, 4 of which are running Y-HPC v2.0.
Y-HPC v2.0 is slated to ship with the close of Q1 2007.
