severe problems after playing with kernel compiling

This smells of something I did after downgrading from a 2.4.x kernel to
an existing 2.2.x kernel. I had similar problems (especially the
dmasound_pmac issue).

The problem is that when I went back to the old kernel, I forgot to
recompile/install the old modules, so the kernel was looking at the
newer kernel modules.

You may want to take it from the top and recompile the old kernel (make
sure that /usr/src/linux is symlinked to the
/usr/src/linux-version.number).

Make sure then that you make modules and make modules_install and reboot
to see what happens.

Hope that helps.

Shawn
