I don't see anything wrong with this, but I've never figured these
things out in detail.  Perhaps the XFree86 newbie list may be able
to help.  See

Be sure to include the output from the startx command -- if your
machine boots to a GUI window, you may need to run "init 3" as
superuser in order to get a a console where you can run startx.
Describe the low performance you're seeing.  It might also help
if you include the output from "cat /proc/pci".
