KDE crashing

I reinstalled YDL from scratch -- even wiping out the drive formatting in 
FWB HardDisk ToolKit -- and KDE still crashes at launch. I'm sure it's a 
wondrous desk top, but I cannot see it for more than a  few minutes!

What file do I edit to get Gnome to launch as default instead of KDE?
