KDE crashing/Powerlogix upgrade card

I have a 9500 that has a Powerlogix ZIF carrier card, a G3/500 Mhz chip 
installed, and 320MB RAM. The dip switches on the ZIF carrier are set for 
375 Mhz operation and seems to be stable during any MacOS 9 session I have 
done so far.

YDL 2.2 seems to be different. I have installed it from scratch twice now 
-- I even reformatted the YDL drive so as to start clean.

KDE will not run for more than a few moments before it crashes. Does anyone 
with a similar hardware set-up have any suggestions?
