Have to run Xconfigurator at boot

I'm running YDL 2.1 on a G4 with a 15" flat panel display.

Every time I reboot (which isn't often, mind you!) I have to re-run 
Xconfigurator before I can get into X.

Any idea why?

Also, I CAN'T use a graphical login with this display.  Whatever 
settings GDM uses are obviously different than those used by X (as 
configured by Xconfigurator).  If I hook up a CRT, it works.  But not 
with this LCD.  Does anyone know where GDM stores its settings?
