Accelerated video?

I've seen numerous comments about accelerated video and various 
laments that some people can't get it working.

I have YDL 2.1 installed on a G4 with a 15" LCD (the new ones) and am 
wondering how I can tell whether or not my video's performing as well 
as it should be.  Everything SEEMS to be OK, but I also wonder if I 
just don't know the difference.
