CUPS errors

when I first installed YDL 2.3, cups worked flawlessly, now it is broken, and I do not know why.

I get this error in CUPS web admin:

Description: USB Printer
Location: home
Printer State: processing, accepting jobs.
"Unable to open USB port device file "/dev/usb/lp0": No such device"
Device URI: usb:/dev/usb/lp0

And i get this error in syslog:

Aug  1 12:20:54 localhost cups: cupsd shutdown succeeded
Aug  1 12:20:58 localhost cups: cupsd startup succeeded
Aug  1 12:20:58 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-6
Aug  1 12:20:58 localhost last message repeated 7 times
Aug  1 12:21:00 localhost insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.19-4a/kernel/drivers/char/serial.o: insmod char-major-4 failed

what happend and how do you fix this?

I tried changing with the privs on /dev/usb/lp0 to no avail...
