YDL 2.3 install problem on G4 dual 533

Hi folks!

I'm trying to install YDL 2.3 on my comp (planning to triple boot OSX, 9 
and linux).  I've got the stock GeForce 2 MX (ADC) connected to a CRT 
Apple Studio Display (17").

Here's what happens:
1. I start up from the YDL CD and get to the boot: prompt
2. I try either  "install-gui" and "install-text"
3. The kernel starts to load then *wham*, the screen just goes black, 
and I'm hosed.

I've tried various video args (like video=riva, etc.)... all to no avail.

As always, any help would be greatly appreciated.
