Greetings,

Just installed a 60 gig drive (which was originally formatted FAT32 and ext3
with several partitions each) into an old 266 iMac that I had been running YDL
2.2 on the original 8 gig drive.

Tried installing both YDL 2.2, and downloaded the 2.3 ISO, zeroed the drive with
the Apple Disk Utility, and every time I have tried to boot after completing the
installation (which goes off without a hitch) yaboot complains that it is unable
to load vmlinuz due to the following error:

/pci/mac-io/ide@20000/disk@0:8,/boot/vmlinux: Input/output error

The drive was functioning fine when i removed it from my old PC a week ago, the
files are being installed (I tried installing over the same partitions and it
saw all the files that had been installed previously, as well as the user
accounts I'd created).

I tried both using the Default installation method as well as the Custom.
Nothing appears to make the slightest difference, and I don't have the first
clue why. The only thing that I could possibly grasp at is that when I was
installing the drive, something important got broken/wasn't replaced correctly
when I put the compujter back together.

Anyone have a clue? I'd really be miffed if I had to toss this drive unless I'm
very sure this is a drive problem. Am I missing something wrt yaboot?

Thanks very much in advance for any help you're able to give.

Sincerely,

Stephen Winson
