dear all,
i have been resisting the urge to ask for help and bother you all but
i've come to the end of my tether. i've searched through the archives
and most of the mac sites i know with no joy.
i have a 667 ti powerbook, with what i assume is the ati mobility
graphics card and NOT the radeon 7500.
basically, i installed and ran daytona with no problems until the
graphical login after the restart. i got the infamous:
INIT: Id "x" respawning disable after 5 min
(or something similar)
i thought this was because i had the radeon 7500, so i ssh'd in, used
lynx and downloaded the new config file, and changed the name etc as per
the howto. on starting x, this didn't work either. the 'respawning'
problem was fixed and the screen colour was fine but generally the
display was garbled as hell.
so, i then reinstalled daytona with the following settings (having
checked the exact specs of my powerbook on the net):
screen: apple titanium powerbook
resolution: 1152 x 768
depth: 24 bit
but now i get the message that "Driver can't support depth 24"
and... "Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration"
does anyone also have the 667 pre-DVI powerbook? would they mind sending
me their /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 as i'm losing my mind here.
on a different note, the daytona burn and install went without a hitch -
beautiful. as good as i've ever seen on any linux distro. this is my
first install of a ppc distro and i can't wait to check it out. but i
would like my screen back!
your help would be much appreciated.
regards,
andrew choong.
