bogus 2.3 iso files in circulation

The first dayton-2.3-20020704-install.iso files that I downloaded from
ftp.yellowdoglinux.com and distro.ibiblio.org yesterday seems to be
broken. They have different size and md5sum compared to the md5sum file
on ftp.yellodoglinux.com and compared to the file that is now served
from there and from carroll.cac.psu.edu.

After examining the differences between the two files it seems to me
that the first file on ftp.yellowdoglinux.com was uploaded in text and
not binary mode. This can lead to newline mangling, and that seems to
have happened.

md5sum of the bogus file:

ea8fa0ceed0dc0bc123cfc855e175be5 dayton-2.3-20020704-install.iso

md5sum of the updated, fixed file (matches the md5sum file):

c74523621c8887bdfee4b12214fef9b8 dayton-2.3-20020704-install.iso

So, if you have downloaded the iso image, please check the checksum to
verify that you got the correct file.

If you have the bogus file and do not want to download all 660mb again,
you can take a short-cut and download an xdelta file from
http://noa.tm/slask/dayton-2.3-fix.xdelta (~2k) and apply it with
'xdelta patch dayton-2.3-fix.xdelta'.

Remember to verify the resulting file with md5sum.

cheers!
