Installing on an 8100

why not try debian's new woody?

i just installed it onto a 7100/80 with HPV and had great success. in fact i
prefer the woody install over YDL.

check out 
ftp://ppc.linux.or.jp/pub/users/ekato/nubus-pmac/Debian_woody/

for the installer+kernel

then do a net install- and you are set!
