mp3's are just static..

My output options are as follows:
aRts Driver 0.4 [llibartsout.so]
Disk Writer Plugin1.2.5 [libdisk_writer.so]
eSound Output Plugin 1.2.5 [libesdout.so]
OSS Driver 1.2.5 [libOSS.so]

The default was eSound (which doesn't work), so I switched it to OSS, as =
per=20
your instructions.. I messed with all the settings in the configure secti=
on=20
for all of these plugins.. none of them work.

None of them work.  Some just make static, some tell me that bits of the =
sound=20
system can't be found etc.  I have installed every rpm on the 2.2 install=
 cd=20
and off the apt-get archives that I can think of.. why doesn't it work?  =
It=20
works from the installer CD when you do a full installation of the system=
,=20
but not when you do a minimal install from cd + manual install of everyth=
ing=20
else after...=20

What am I missing?

(incidentally, I can use noatun to play anything I want.. and it works ok=
, but=20
I really do prefer xmms.)
