            I had exactly the same problem and the solution was obvious
when I found it! On the windows machine you can see the Linux box in
network manager but when you double click it you get a message saying that
the box is not on the network. Well, as a default Linux installs a firewall
- it even recomends it - but firewalls stop network traffic! Try turning
the firewall off and then connect. If this works then you can turn the
firewall back on and open up a port Samba to use.
