B&W G3 can't boot YDL2.2

Nope.  It's not a typo.  That's what appears during the boot process of the installer:
    Maxtor2R015H1, ATA Disk Drive

Also, in the Partition Disks section of the custom install process, I see the only 
selection for that ide drive as:
    hde (Maxtor 2R015H1)
