Building Apache (what's the fdisk equivalent?)

Looks like I somehow deleted the last couple lines of the message below before
posting it.  

To continue, I had asked if anyone knew what was going on.  Since then, I still
haven't figured it out but I have some ideas.  I was confused as to why it
would say memory exhausted because there is ample hard drive space.  Then I
thought maybe me my swap partition isn't large enough.  I couldn't remember how
much I'd allocated to swap, so I wanted to look it up.  fdisk doesn't seem to
work for hfs+.

I would type:
    /sbin/fdisk /dev/hda8 

and it would respond with:

"Device contains neither a valid DOS partition table, nor Sun, SGI, or OSF
disklabel...."

What other utility is there?
