XFree86 bombs out in higher res mode !?!?!

I've recently installed YDL 2.2 on a Mac clone, Apus 3000. I've only =
been able to use the lo res modes in 8-bit colour with KDE, as anything =
higher bombs out the XFree86 server. Looking at the log file it seems =
to get the "Fatal server error" after the adding "Mouse0" input device =
... (Just the single button ADB Mouse) Not sure what's wrong with this =
as it works in the lower res modes (640x480 and 800x600 8-bit). Going =
to 16-bit colour crashes the server all the time ...
