Liquid the easy way...

 You probably don't have liquid installed it the right place. Did you
configure with --prefix=/usr ? If so, then your KDE might be in a
different place than mine. Try these two commands:

locate libkwinliquid.la

 and

locate libkdecore.la

 If they aren't in the same directory, then liquid isn't installed
properly for your machine.

 For me they are both in /usr/lib/.
