smp machine people

i have a 533dp g4 and have installed the smp kernel that ydl 2.3
provides, but i am curious if anyone has any advise for a dual processor
machine.  are there better kernels out there i could be using...is it
best to build my own from maybe a benh source, and has anyone been able
to use mol with a smp kernel.

i am just looking for any kind of feedback from people with dp machines,
or anyone who simply might know some stuff.  shedding some light on the
ppc kernel arena for me wouldn't be bad either...i am a newbie learning
fast, but could someone explain the benh vs. bitkeeper vs. kernel.org
vs. ydl kernel pros and cons.  i want to get my system running in peak
condition while i learn more and more about linux...here are the specs:

533DP G4
1.5GB RAM
YDL 2.3
OS 10.2
OS 9.2
15 inch flat panel (the first one)
harmon/kardon soundsticks
