Sound on YDL 2.3

I'm guessing you have a conflict between sound-servers. You're in KDE,
right? Probably it starts arts and xmms wants to use something else.

1) Can you use a different environment (Gnome, Windowmaker) and get xmms to
work?
2) In KDE, do you get the startup sound? Does the CD player (Kscd) work?

I modified the startkde script so it doesn't launch arts. Does anyone know
if xmms can be configured to use arts? If so, how?
