Hi Bill,

i've found your post about LaCie and firewire connection dated Fri May
2002.

I'm trying to connect my lacie hdd to linux slackware kernel 2.4.19: i
compiled the kernel with IEEE support and my IEEE card adapter is found
but i receive the following error in dmesg "ieee1394 error: configROM
quadlet transaction error for inode1".

This is a part of dmesg output:

 <mailto:root@zeus> root@zeus:~# dmesg |grep 1394
ohci1394: $Rev: 530 $ Ben Collins < <mailto:bcollins@debian.org>
bcollins@debian.org>
ohci1394_0: OHCI-1394 1.0 (PCI): IRQ=[11] MMIO=[e4004000-e4004800] Max
Packet=[2048]
raw1394: /dev/raw1394 device initialized
ieee1394: Loaded CMP driver
ieee1394: Host added: Node[00:1023] GUID[3720085600000ef5] [Linux
OHCI-1394]
ohci1394_0: Received OHCI evt_* error 0x3
ohci1394_0: Received OHCI evt_* error 0x3
ohci1394_0: Received OHCI evt_* error 0x3
ieee1394: ConfigROM quadlet transaction error for node 01:1023

any idea?!

I've several doubts: should I compile kernel with scsi support? I tried
it and I get KERNEL PANIC! I need to use sbp2 but I cannot find this
option in kernels options!

Could You help me?!

Thanks a lot
