Thanks for the info, Bill.  I'm running my machine at 1280x1024 at 24 
bits, with the SMP kernel.  Do you know if this is an issue with just 
the PPC kernel, or all SMP kernels?  I don't think I'd give up SMP for 
the sake of watching DVDs.  :(
