USB Zip Drive

Dear all,
I have a USB Zip drive that I am unable to get working.  I need some 
help.  All of the instructions I have gathered from iBookLinux, the 
Linux-USB website and Matt Welsh's Running Linux seem to be either 
out of date or are for systems that differ significantly from mine. 
I am running YDL 2.3 on a 2001 iBook2.

I am a beginner who knows how to call up KDE's Konsole, run commands, 
edit files and generally navigate around.  I lack the experience and 
understanding, though, to get my Zip drive to work.

I would happily seek out any other HOW-TOs people suggest and refrain 
from posting to the list.
