Installing on a 9500 MP installation questions and answers

I finally got a base install of 2.2 to work and for
those of you struggling to do the same, I may have
some answers.  I reformatted the drives onto which I
was installing and zeroed all of the data.  The
install went smoothly after that.  However, the
network setup doesn't seem to want to work.  I
configure it manually after the install to try to
eliminate points of failure.  I keep getting an
invalid parameter message even though the parameters
are correct.  The bootup seems to be normal, is there
something I need to turn on?  

Also, I'd like to take advantage of the dual
processors and from what I've gathered, I need to
ditch bootx and use miboot.  Is it possible to convert
from bootx to miboot?  Can anyone point me to a howto?
