Wow.. You're like the second person to ask me this.. evidently I must 
have an inverse improbability field around me or something :)

The machine is an Apple 9600MP (not an upgrade card) and the MacOS i'm 
using to bootstrap Linux is OS8.5 (vanilla as plain as you can be 
install) and the BootX that shipped with YDL-2.3.  BootX may turn off 
the second processor, but the 2.4.19-4asmp kernel turns it back on :)  
AFIK, this machine is doing SMP, anyone got a test to see if it's truly 
doing it?
