YDL 3.0 Java SDK

Has anybody succeded installing java SDK on yellow dog linux 3.0 ?
I plan on running tomcat on a iMac running YDL 3.0 !

Is that an achivable thought ?

Any hints about some java version that will run on YDL 3.0 would be appreciated.
I've tryed with some blackdown versions (1.3 JDK), also searched IBM for their SDK
but none of the worked.

The JRE tha ships with YDL 3.0 works with np but no compiler though.
