Most desktop IDE drives have been engineered for frequent spinup /
spindown in recent years, but it's not a safe bet that SCSI drives
(especially of older vintage) are designed to spin up and down a lot.
If it's the 7500's original drive, well, back then there basically were
no drives designed for lots of spinup/down cycles, whether IDE or SCSI.
You're probably better off running it continuously.

Older Macs like the 7500 cannot spin the fan down AFAIK.
