making a bootable firewall CD?

Hi,

Any tips on how to make a bootable firewall CD?  I'm thinking that  
it's a good idea because even if somebody does break through, they 
can't actually change anything.

I imagine you'd do an absolutely minimal install, get it working, and 
then make an ISO of the whole thing... but what if it's an old mac that 
needs BootX (i'm looking at an old 7200 with 3 NICs).

Maybe leave a Mac OS partition on the HD with a BootX that kicks over 
to the CD?

I'm just hoping someone can point me in the right direction or advise 
on an alternate, better strategy.
