that is nice :) But I still do not understand why you cannot add the 
printer in CUPS. What version of CUPS and atalk are you running ?
rpm -qi cups
rpm -qi netatalk
on my server I run:
netatalk (1.5.1.1 mandrake)
cups (1.1.18 mandrake)
