Can't share "/mnt/volume"

Well, my first suggestion would be to chmod the MOUNT POINT, not the 
volume.  ie:

chmod 777 /mnt/foo     # ok, I know, 777 is a bad idea, but useful for 
testing purposes

then remount the volume, making sure you mount it rw

mount /dev/foo /mnt/foo -o rw    # I think that's right anyway.....

Lemme know how that pans out...
